How to Pick the Best Eyeliner for Your Eye Color

How to Pick the Best Eyeliner for Your Eye Color

There’s much more than meets the eye when picking the right liner shade to enhance your eye color. We created this eyeliner guide to help you find the perfect shade!

Infinity Waterproof Eyeliner Thrive Causemetics

Brown Eyes: You can’t go wrong with using analogous shades (colors that are found right next to each other on the color wheel) like brown or black, but deep navy will emphasize the the amber flecks in brown eyes.

Other complimentary eyeliner shades: Plum, slate grey and bronze.

Try: Infinity Waterproof Eyeliner in Talia (navy matte), Lauren (black matte) or Hoda (slate grey).

Green Eyes:

On the color wheel, red complements green, so find a shade with a reddish undertone line plum or brown.

Other complimentary eyeliner shades: Bronze, slate grey, moss green.

Try: Infinity Waterproof Eyeliner in Giuliana (plum shimmer), Hoda (slate grey) or Ella (brown matte).

Plum Eyeliner Thrive Causemetics

Hazel Eyes: Have you heard that hazel eyes can change color? With the trick of the eye, it’s true! Red and gold undertones bring out the green in hazel eyes while warm browns will enhance the rich brown color. Think purple and bronze eyeliner to bring out the green and neutral brown to enhance the chestnut color.

Other complimentary eyeliner shades: Bronze, moss and olive.

Try: Infinity Waterproof Eyeliner in Giuliana (plum shimmer) and Ella (brown matte).

Thrive Infinity Waterproof Eyeliner

Blue Eyes: Contrasting shades bring out your eye color, so brown and gold make blue eyes appear even bluer. Since many blue eyes have gold flashes in the iris, metallics really electrify blue eyes.

Other complimentary eyeliner shades: Navy, copper, bronze and champagne.

Try: Infinity Waterproof Eyeliner in Ella (brown matte) or Talia (navy matte).

Editor Approved: Sweatproof Beauty!

Editor Approved: Sweatproof Beauty!

What do beauty editors, Thrive makeup and elite athletes all have in common? They’re all sweatproof!

To put our upcoming waterproof beauty products to the ultimate test, we enlisted the help of beauty editors at a sweat sesh in New York at Flywheel. Flywheel is famous for their “never coast” mantra and we agree; you need makeup that works as hard as you do during your workouts!

Here’s a behind the scenes snapshot of us getting Good Housekeeping’s Cody Marrick glam pre-workout.

Success! Our post-workout beauty game is as strong as we were during our class! Yes, I did wear red lip lacquer and falsies to a spin class! With Allure's Shyema Azam who looks flawless per usual!

Check out Olivia Muenter of Bustle, Cody Marrick of Good Housekeeping, and Lara Eurdolian of PrettyConnected.com, still looking fly after the Flywheel class.

When you see the words Infinity Waterproof™ on our beauty products (like eyeliner, brow liner or lash glue), it means it has passed the ultimate waterproof test to ensure 24-hour hold.

All of our makeup is vegan, free of parabens and sulfates, so they’re safe for use during your sweat sesh — and since eyeliner running down your cheeks is never a good look, you can rest assured that our Infinity™ line has you covered.

DIY Coffee Body Scrub

The #1 enemy to cellulite is caffeine, which tightens skin and is packed full of antioxidants. When applied consistently, it has been shown to reduce the appearance of cellulite.

Here, we combine coffee grounds with moisturizing, skin-soothing coconut oil and sugar for an extra exfoliating boost. Massaging onto problem areas stimulates blood flow while sloughing off dead skin cells, resulting in smoother, firmer skin.

Added bonus: it smells like chocolate!

What you’ll need:
1 cup ground coffee
1 cup sugar or salt
1/2 cup coconut oil
1/2 tablespoon cinnamon

Pour all dry ingredients into a large bowl. Melt coconut oil and mix to combine with dry ingredients and vanilla.

To use:
Apply to skin (wet or dry), massage gently to polish away dead skin cells. Rinse well. For optimal exfoliation, use 1-3 times per week.

More about the ingredients:
Coffee grounds: naturally exfoliate and and promote circulation
Coconut oil: moisturizes and softens skin
Sugar: naturally exfoliates skin
Cinnamon: promotes circulation

Skincare Acids 101

Skincare Acids 101

Acid can be a scary word. For most, the word acid is synonymous with skin irritation and redness, but did you know that certain acids are actually used for hydration and protection?

We created this simple guide to explain the benefits of various acids and how they are most commonly used in cosmetics.

Acids 101 Thrive Causemetics

Hydrate

  • Hyaluronic Acid (Sodium Hyaluronate) - Holds 1,000x its weight in water to provide oil-free hydration and plumping to the skin. Learn more about this all-star ingredient and why we use it in our Infinity Waterproof Eyeliner and Brow Liner here.
  • Pantothenic Acid (Vitamin B5) - Essential for skin barrier repair function, Vitamin B5 replenishes essential nutrients to keep your skin looking youthful.

Exfoliate

  • Glycolic Acid - If you’re looking for rapid removal of dead skin and brightening after one use, reach for glycolic acid.
  • Lactic Acid - One of the most popular alpha hydroxy acids, Lactic Acid is derived from milk sugars and gently sloughs off dead skin without the use of exfoliating beads.
  • Salicylic Acid - Commonly found in acne treatments, dermatologists often recommend using salicylic acid or white willow bark to help speed up cell turnover to reveal a more even complexion and smooth fine lines.
  • Retinoic Acid (Retinol) - This derivative of Vitamin A is a favorite among dermatologists because it is clinically proven to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, treat hyperpigmentation and acne.

Brighten

  • L-Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C) - Vitamin C is highly unstable, meaning that improper formulation and packaging renders it useless. L-Ascorbic Acid is the most stable form of Vitamin C. We love this ingredient so much we use it in our Infinity Waterproof Brow Liner to protect the skin.
  • Kojic Acid - This all-natural compound is derived from fungi similar to mushrooms. t helps to block melanin production in skin, making it excellent for prevention of hyperpigmentation.
  • Azelaic Acid - A natural ingredient found in rye and barley, azelaic acid was first discovered and used to treat acne. Dermatologists and scientists discovered that it also works to even out the skin tone by inhibiting the enzyme tyrosinase, an enzyme that stimulates melanin production.

Protect

  • L-Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C) - This O.G. of antioxidants neutralizes free radicals that cause premature aging.
  • Ferulic Acid - An all-natural antioxidant that blends synergistically with other ingredients such as Vitamin C to block free radicals.
  • Alpha Lipoic Acid - Also an anti-inflammatory, Alpha Lipoic Acid prevents oxidative stress that breaks down collagen in skin.

Infinity Equals Waterproof Makeup

When you see the words Infinity Waterproof™ on one our products (like our eyeliner, brow liner or lash glue), it means it has passed the ultimate waterproof test to ensure 24-hour hold.

Waterproof Eyeliner

As part of our product development process, we enlist a group of elite athletes like swimmers, triathletes and hot yoga instructors to test our products in extreme conditions. Much of what we put on our skin is absorbed into our bloodstream.

Because all of our beauty products are vegan, free of parabens and sulfates, they’re safe for use during your sweat sesh — and since eyeliner running down your cheeks is never a good look, you can rest assured that our Infinity™ line has you covered.

Celebrity fitness expert Jacquelyn Umof puts all of our waterproof makeup to the test. “I often go from teaching a sweaty hot yoga class to train a client with little time in between, and my makeup needs to be camera-ready at all times. My biggest challenge has been keeping my eyeliner and brow products from streaking all over my face. Thrive Causemetics Infinity Waterproof Eyeliner™ and brow liner is my insurance policy—whether I’m in a 105 degree studio or swimming, it does NOT budge!”

Avid marathon runner and swimmer Elizabeth Williams says, “When I’m getting ready to cross the finish line, I can't be bothered to wear eye shadow. But that doesn't mean I want my eyelids to go bare for my post-race photos. Enter Thrive's Infinity Waterproof Eyeliner in Giuliana. I use this creamy eyeliner in place of my usual eyeshadow to create a natural-looking eye look that stays in place for all 13.1 miles.”

We’re in the final stages of developing several new waterproof products to keep up with your active lifestyle. Which sweat-proof beauty product do you want to see next?
